Before creating your first Facebook Ad I want you to understand what is the campaign, Ad set & Ad? This is very necessary to know as you will create multiple Ads in the future & also helps you to keep your Ad manager data organized to track the result.
To create the Ad you need to complete 3 easy steps: Campaign, Ad set, Ad. Let’s make it easy to understand by the below image.
a. Campaign – Each campaign has its unique objective. Each campaign can contain multiple Ad sets and Ads.
For example: If you want to run multiple Ads for your salon in Kharadi. One is for branding and the other is for letting user message you on Facebook. Then you can choose two campaigns. But if your objective of the campaign is the same but your other preferences are different then you can run both Ads in each campaign to keep it organized.
b. Ad set – Ad set is to select your audience, placement, and budget for your Ad. Let’s take the same example. After selecting the objective, you need to select people who & where you want to show your Ad. Also, you need to select the budget and duration of Ads. If all of these are the same then you can create one Ad set for your multiple Ads. But If you want to showcase your one Ad in Kharadi and other in Hinjewadi then you need to create different Ad sets.
c. Ads– There can be multiple Ads in each Ad set or campaign. In Ads, you just have to select the media file of your Ad and publish it.
- Open Ad manager

Give the name to your Ad campaign related to your Ad. So that when you have multiple campaigns in your Ad manager account, it will be easy for you to find the campaign. Also, it is better to be organized to track results for a particular Ad campaign.
4. Create audience by targeting
Here comes the most important section for Ad creation. Audience selection directly affects the quality of the result. To create the audience, select location, age, and gender of the people whom you want to show your Ad. While detailed targeting you can select people by their demographics, interests & behaviors. This detailed targeting helps you to connect to such people who definitely may have an interest in your Ad and will be your potential customers.
Have a look at the below image, it shows that the audience you have selected will reach to how many people. Here I have selected the objective “Engagement”, so in the image, it shows the number of approximate engagement I can get. If your objective is for video views, it shows how many views you will get.
The arrow should be in the green color section, as it shows that your targeted audience is good to go. It should not be specific or broad.
Note- The numbers may vary when you select the budget and duration of Ads. Once you have done with your audience selection, save this to use the same in the future.
5. Set up Ad placement
The Ad you are running on Facebook, you can also run the same on Instagram account. For that, you just have to select the placement as shown in the below image. If you don’t have such priorities for the placement you can select “Automatic placement”.
When you select manual placement, you will get many options to choose that where should your Ad be posted as shown in the image below. For example, if the Ad is in image format then you don’t need to select video feed.
6. Set budget & duration
Now it’s time to decide how much you want to spend in your Ad and for what duration. There are two types of budget; Daily Budget & lifetime Budget.
Daily budget is how much you are going to spend daily on your Ad. For example, you have set a budget of ₹ 500 for 3 days, then you are going to spend ₹ 500/ day.
Lifetime budget is the amount you are pending throughout the duration you have set for your Ad campaign. For example, you have set a budget of ₹ 500 for 3 days, then you will spend ₹ 500 for 3 days.
When you select the budget and schedule the Ad for a specific duration, it shows you the notification for the minimum budget. So, you have to select the budget amount the same or more than it shows.
